About Us

Checkin was Launched in April 2008 with a clear goal, to Make Hotels and the City a Safer Place to Stay.

To do this Checkin was launched, aimed at Edinburgh city hotels. The Checkin membership offers all our members quick and easy to share information on crime and other activity in the city. Checkin also is about promoting good security practice and constitutional guidleines declare what level must be reached to become a member.

Having started the group in April 2008 the hotels have managed to co-ordinate information successfully to over 200 members 24 hours a day 7 days a week, this information helps to protect other business from crime and assists the police in gathering information.

Crime in Edinburgh is low, and the city is a safe place to visit, Checkin is here to ensure that the levels of crime remain low and the crime that is currently happening, be removed by working together and in parnership with the police.

When you stay in Edinburgh, choose a Checkin members hotel to stay at for a safer place to stay.

Checkin started with 12 hotels in the city centre, it has grown to 50 major hotels in the city and outskirts of Edinburgh.

The ideals for Checkin were developed to keep up with the current needs for security awareness in hotels and preparation for future.

Checkin aims to improve security of hotels in Edinburgh, to provide the safest hotels across the country.

Members of Checkin have ensured that hotel security is developed to prevent guests and staff being effected by crime.

Checkin is assisting businesses to prepare for the future by supplying training, network groups, communication over the city and information that will assist in developing standards for loss prevention and secure premises.
